Fr. Robert Braun passes away on January 13, 2009

January 13, 2009
Bernadette called me this morning to give me the sad news that Father Braun passed away this morning at 6:10 am. She said he had a very rough day yesterday and they had to give him blood and they had a difficult time finding a vein. He was agitated and uncomfortable. Father Braun asked that they donate his body to St. Louis University. Bernadette and her husband said prayers over Father's Braun's body before they took him. They said the "Our Father" in Latin and they said the prayer that he wrote and several other prayers.
This is going to be a difficult year for Cursillo and for all of us as we mourn the loss of our friend, brother and Spiritual Director. Father Braun was Jesus to all of us, because he took the time to be there for each person no matter the cost to himself. He drove long distances to be with us at births, baptisms, weddings, deaths, celebrations of special days, and for many other momentous events in our lives. He was affectionate, loving, compassionate and caring. He shared his love for Jesus, Mary, St. Terese, and the Trinity with all of us. Of course, he also shared his love of the color blue.
Bernadette wanted me to make sure that I tell everyone Thank you from her and all of her sisters. They truly appreciate all the love, prayers, cards, letters, visits and support that we showed Father over the last several months. She said that she knows our care and concern meant so much to him and to all of her sisters. She feels comforted knowing that Father had no doubt that we all loved him and appreciated him in our lives.
Bernadette said that she would let me know when they plan the Memorial Mass. She didn't think it would be as quick as a normal funeral mass, since he donated his body. Please continue to pray for Bernadette and their entire family. She was at the hospital with Father all day everyday, and she was a devoted care giver.
Love,
Julie
